LiA Project Summary: Make_sense Re_action for Impact, Mexico City
Project Outline
General Information:
Program: Reaction for Impact Initiative: Climate Change
Action theme: Sustainable lifestyle; user experience design
Partnering organization: Huerto Roma Verde
Objective of the collaboration:
The objective was to collaboratively design the user experience for tours highlighting Huerto Roma as a center of urban resilience. This involved assisting the organization in developing translated communication materials, promoting a sustainable lifestyle, fostering local engagement in the area, and gaining insights from the experience to understand how the local organization successfully made a positive impact on the community.
Project outline:
To improve the user experience, we conducted a user survey and practical research, created user profiles, focused on the significant visitor personae, and mapped the ideal customer journey. Defining the problems and objectives, we divided the project into three micro projects. While having different group members responsible for each micro project, we also engaged volunteers in the micro projects.
The three micro projects included:
(1) Creating a comprehensive guided tour script in both English and Spanish to assist visitors in comprehending the purpose and layout of Huerto Roma Verde;
(2)Producing bilingual digital leaflet to encourage visitors to actively explore Huerto Roma Verde and learn about the history, art, and techniques;
(3)Designing and making 12 Graphic Information Boards for the self-guided tour to improve access to information.

- Train volunteers to guide the tour according to the script

Outcome:
The main outcome include the main deliverables: the script, leaflet, and info boards. To showcase our project and the outcome, we arranged a showcase, inviting visitors through Make Sense network to test out our products. We provided two rounds of guided tour in Huerto Roma Verde, led by the scholars and volunteers in English and Spanish, followed by the focused group interview. We gathered feedback from the visitors, knowing the positive impacts our project will bring to the organization and the community, also finding potential improvements we can make. Additionally, we provide the organization with the digital files and design of our products, for them to carry on the project and sustainably update the contents in the future.
