Re-creating the People and Communities of Medieval Wakefield

Supervised by: Dr Iona McCleery, School of History, University of Leeds

This project forms a distinctive yet similar outputs to Dr Iona McCleery’s project with the Wakefield Museum’s Youth Forum aiming to introduce people to the lives of people in the Medieval era in the Wakefield Manorial Court Rolls through imaginatively bringing people to life, making the information exciting and accessible to the public.

I have begun my research by viewing the original 14th and 15th century court rolls written in Latin in the Special Collections in the Brotherton Library. In which I will pick out a theme/person within the 14th century, take creative liberties and produce a creative product

This project aims to make history more accessible to non-academic audiences as well as developing my own skills of youth engagement, museum outreach and archival work.
