The project this week has continued on the same path it has followed in the last 2 weeks with lots of desk based research into grants and the operations of differing scales of composting facilities, as well as multiple very interesting meetings with people in both the central team of Hagamos Composta but also from branches in other parts of Mexico. This included speaking to the branch leader in Ensanada, which put into perspective how varied Mexico is, and the importance of considering not only the size of different branches but also how different ecosystems impact the composting process. Our target for next week is to turn all of our research and discussions into concise reports which can be used by Hagamos composta to help them professionalise their processes.
The highlight of this week was a visit to Hagamos composta site in Mexico state, where we learnt about the process of composting food waste, animal waste and pets, and helped unload one of their deliveries of food waste. We also planted trees.

Hi, I'm Mila. I'm an undergraduate geography student at the university of Cambridge. I'm mostly interested in physical geography particularly in hazard risk and the ways that multi-hazards intersect with vulnerability and the ways that this will be impacted by climate change in the future.
My summer research project, is focused on the ways Ukrainians, both in Ukraine and in the UK experience and process the ongoing ecocide in Ukraine.
