On June 1st, I began my LiA project with Disability Rights International. With hands-on work in Washington, D.C. I have started to understand how research is directly related to advocacy; they cannot exist without the other. This past week, I have been onboarding at the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown Law School. My work is immersed in DC's Capitol Hill, and I am surrounded by people passionate about public interest. I've been reading a lot about disability rights, familiarizing myself with legal terminology, and improving my Spanish comprehension! I am looking forward to learning more in the following 5 weeks, but most importantly, I am eager to contribute to the deinstitutionalization and the desegregation of people with disabilities in Latin America.

As a history major, I have really been enjoying visiting countless museums. So far, I have revisited the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the National Portrait Gallery. I've also enjoyed going on runs past the monuments after going to the gym, so many sights to see!
