During my fourth week working at the Columbia Justice Lab, I’ve continued conducting data analysis through the Justice Outcomes Explorer, while combining this analysis with correctional records from specific communities in Texas. The Probation and Parole team is working on creating research briefs that draw out the important trends in this data, as well as comparing them to national trends, in order to inform and enhance the work that justice reform organizations are doing in Texas. The team met together for the first time this week to debrief our progress and get an idea of what we’d been working on separately for the past few weeks — it was great to get a sense of the larger goals of this project, and I’m excited to be contributing to such important work!
