It was amazing to finally meeting with the organisation Killa Vive Verde! We met two amazing artists in two workshops which helped us better understanding Killa in order to design a prototype best suits its needs.

On Monday, we visited Luna, the master of designing and prototyping of Killa latest products! Her working space was like a lab, filled with creativity and love. Within our two hour visit, she already finished a new fanny bag from scratch. She even saved all the left-over pieces during to make smaller products, like a cap or wallet. At first glance, her workshop may not be as big and as fancy, yet it was fantastic and full of surprise!

Two days after our first visit, we participated in a public workshop hosted by Elizabeth. Many entrepreneurs from the textile industry also gathered together in that morning. It was my first time get to know the process of the printing procedures in Killa through hand-ons experience. We started with dissovling minerals in boiling water, followed by putting plants on the fabric, tightening the fabric using bamboo, and finally steaming it for two hours. The procedure seemed to be straight-forward but it was easier to say than done! Details as wimple as, the mirroring effect, the ratio and choice of minerals, as well as the timing was technical.

Overall, I learnt much more about Killa in-person and would love to meet with more artists, particularly the women from the Amazon! I am also looking forward to meeting our volunteers. With collective effort, we can make a change and create hope for not only Killa, but also the environment and the women supported by Killa.
