LiA Fifth Week Reflection~
It was fruitful week of working and showcasing our project! I am very glad to let the others to get to know Killa and what our team has been doing for the past four weeks.
We hold a workshop for our fellow scholars on Monday in taller Genera. They got the chance to meet all three artisans, Elizabeth, Genera, and Diana. The artisans also sharing their stories and expertises with us. With the fantastic workshop led by Elizabeth, the visitation came to a close. I knew how much the scholars enjoy the experience when everyone had their own piece of cloth and big smiles on their faces.
After the tedious preparation on Tuesday, our final showcase took place on Wednesday. I pictured every single thing that may go wrong the night before the fair. The anxiety pushed me way more than I expected. The day starts with many accidents and issues to be solved. Nonetheless, we managed to apply our problem solving skills and teamwork to tackle these challenges. During this process, I learnt a lot from my peers. Ranging from giving clear instructions to volunteers, to prioritising the to do list, these are the soft skills that can never be acquired by lectures and teachings. They can only be mastered by trial-and-error, like this time, our showcase.
This week ended with a sleepy photo-shot and Casa MacDonald’s volunteer gathering. I truly hope all scholars, volunteer, and participants have a good time in our events. At the same time, this week forced me to face the reality of how fast time passed. It is soon our last week here in Peru.
