JULY 14  - JULY 20

In the third week of my LiA project, we welcomed the arrival of volunteers to the Mianhuasha Libraries in Yidushui, Xuntian, and Huilong townships. After an onboarding briefing, we helped them to settle down in our accommodation and introduced them to the local area. The founder of the Mianhuasha Libraries NGO, Director Jiang Nengjie also invited us to his house for a welcome dinner prior to the event's commencement.

On July 16th, we organised an opening ceremony in the libraries. We invited over 50 children around the towns and villages to join our camp, as we played icebreaking games to help them familiarise with us and each other. We also announced the schedule of lessons over the next three weeks of teaching, before distributing a disclaimer statement for the children to take home and sign by their parents. We began our lessons following the end of the opening ceremony, which took place in the Xuntian site for the team I led (we were divided into three teams and we rotate around the three libraries).
