A few weeks ago, after reading one of my coursework essays for an Art History module entitled The Art and Visual Culture of the HIV/AIDS Epidemic, one of my friends suggested that I take the research from that essay, and use it to curate an online exhibition. 

 Due to Covid-19, many art galleries and museums have taken their exhibitions online in order to allow the general public to keep viewing their displays from home during lockdown. This has taken many forms, including virtual reality recreations of gallery spaces, or video tours accompanied by expert voice over. Without the technical ability to create a virtual museum, or physical access to the art work I have been learning about and researching during last semester, I've taken to Instagram in order to curate an exhibit. 

The exhibit, entitled Sickness & Saints explores the use of Christian iconography in representations of illness, particularly in relation to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. I have chosen a limited number of artworks to post, and have included all of the information you'd usually find on a gallery wall in the caption of each image.
