Reflections on my Research: Animal Welfare Legislation & Policy in the Gulf States

A summer spent researching a different discipline to that I am used to in a region I have never been to - it is safe to say this research had its challenges. I am proud to share my outcomes and reflections on the period.

Animal Welfare Legislation & Policy in the Gulf States

This project looked to scope the current existence of policy and law regulating the care and use of animals in scientific research across nine countries in the Middle East region. A challenging, but incredibly rewarding, project, there are a lot of possibilities for expansion, development, and education, both with the research itself and in the region - in order to make long-term growth and progress.

Reading hundreds of scientific research papers from different countries as a law student was undoubtedly challenging, though I was still not prepared for the sheer scale, effort, and thoroughness it would take. Learning to use this challenge to my advantage was the biggest piece of progress - a legal outlook on scientific research. I am proud to have completed the research with the help of both my supervisors and to share my extended reflections. I look forward to expanding and developing this project further, both with a published research report, and continuing my development with the Foundation further.
