LiA: Strengthening Youth Engagement and Community Impact at Tzu Chi UK

During my Leadership in Action placement with Tzu Chi UK, I explored how the organisation could strengthen youth engagement and community impact. I looked at what encourages young people to move from one-off participation towards longer-term involvement, while researching Tzu Chi resources from Taiwan and around the world for potential adaptation to the UK context. Through interviews, community observation, resource research and conversations with Tzu Chi volunteers and wider practitioners, I developed practical recommendations and tools around youth engagement, programme development and community storytelling. The project also changed how I understand leadership: rather than simply producing a solution, I learned the value of listening, contributing, building relationships and being willing to adapt.
