Avi Adler - Laidlaw Summer 2021

Maintaining a stable stock of mitochondria is crucial to staving off neurodegeneration. Here, I discuss the my research on the implications of two proteins linked to maintaining a healthy mitochondrial network.

Over the Summer of 2022, during my second summer as a Laidlaw Scholar, I worked with faculty at Columbia College to develop a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) to teach basic principles of science. We hope to teach and share 'scientific habits of mind'  including statistics, calculations and graphical analysis. These techniques and tools utilized by science are critically important for an informed citizenry. Our course, to be published in the Fall of 2022, will be shared with the public in the hopes of increasing scientific literacy and engagement.
