LiA Report Part 2: NGO BarcelonActua

Let me share the premise of the work we did together! This nonprofit serves adult immigrants in Barcelona who are unhoused. For 12 weeks, I worked with them with pedagogical support and artsy ideas for an adult audience.

My learning points:

  • Sometimes you have to email the RIGHT person in the organization to get the opportunity, so look for people with a job title that sounds related to your interest;
  • As an intern, I helped my supervisors with tasks so they could have more time to do other things that were already going on before I arrived
  • That means it took time for me to get into the core of the work we were planning (pedagogies and art.) So it was really helpful to extend my LiA! Of course, this way, there was also more time for them to build trust in my work before sharing more tasks with me;
  • Have a document to write down everything you did, day by day, hour by hour - this way, you can circle back and feel how concrete your work/impact was.
