This morning started with an energising workout led by Sanjana George, India’s second woman to enter the WWE and a fierce advocate for women’s strength and mental resilience.

From 8:30 to 10:00 AM, we moved, stretched and laughed. It was more than just a fitness session, it was about taking up space, reconnecting with our bodies, and being in community with other women doing the same.

From 10 to 11, we slowed down for an interactive conversation on women and fitness in India.

We talked about how most fitness content excludes women who don’t already see themselves as “fit.”

We asked:
👉🏽 How do we invite more women into this space?
👉🏽 How do we make strength training joyful, not intimidating?

Ideas flew:
“Bring Your Mother to the Mat”
“Workout Circles for Women Who’ve Never Tried Before”

Offline outreach, women-only spaces, local languages. The spark was real.

The rest of the day looked like this:

🕛 Lunch break and a moment to cool down (Kerala’s heat is no joke!)
🕒 Afternoon Deep Dives...Because it’s induction week, we packed in five mini sessions:

  • What Does It Mean to Lead?

  • Personal Branding

  • CraftHER Social Media

  • Personal Project Scoping

  • Goal Setting

CraftHER is a 6-week leadership and learning program by Swara - Voice of Women, where Laidlaw Scholars travel across Kerala, India, meeting women-led craft clusters and learning, leading and creating change. They learn about ethical business, grassroots innovation, and social change, up close.

If you're a Laidlaw Scholar reading this and wondering what next summer could look like... consider joining us in Kerala.

Come with curiosity. Leave with clarity (and possibly a sari or two 😉).
