I will be studying medicine through the four-year graduate-entry track MBChB at the Chinese University of Hong Kong from September 2026. I am also a graduate in Global Health and Development BASc (1:1), with Psychology and Neuroscience double minors, at the University of Hong Kong, where I joined the Laidlaw Scholars Programme. With my dual background in global health and psychology, I am passionate about the human mind and a sustainable healthcare system that supports mental well-being. I am an enthusiastic learner and proactive leader, building strong teamwork and communication skills by volunteering in youth engagement projects. Working in an overseas health organisation placement and with international research teams has also cultivated my flexible and global mindset. I aspire to contribute to public health and medicine by further integrating my studies in brain and psychological sciences. I had a broad research exposure across the UK, Hong Kong and Japan during my first undergraduate degree. I conducted my Laidlaw research project at the UCL Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health. I also undertook a six-month capstone attachment in Japan, working at the International Institute for Integrative Sleep Medicine, University of Tsukuba. Some of my ongoing or previous projects include those related to sleep medicine, psychoeducation, mental health, psychiatry and female menstruation health. Hi there! My name is Tea Stapar and I'm a third year Biological and Biomedical Sciences student in Trinity College Dublin, specialising in Biochemistry. My research project is based on studying metabolomics of a chemotherapy drug called HAMLET/Alpha 1 using NMR spectroscopy. I'll be investigating whether this chemotherapeutic could be used to treat human osteosarcoma. Looking forwards to the experience and connecting with new people!

I am a fourth-year student studying Middle Eastern and European Languages and Cultures with Hebrew at Trinity College Dublin. I spent my third year studying abroad at the Universidad de Granada and Charles University Prague. I am very interested in Holocaust Studies and my summer research project concerned the study of the influence of Holocaust fiction on public memory. I am currently pursuing this research further as part of my undergraduate dissertation. In the summer of 2024, I joined SOS Children's Villages Switzerland and Nepal for the central LiA "Making Impact Visible" and got an insight into SOS's important work while fostering my videography and photography skills. Hi! My name is Jimena Alvarez and I am a Peruvian second year student in Trinity College Dublin. I currently concluded my second year studying Political Science and Economics. My research project is titled "Exploratory research into the support worker’s perceptions of the integration experiences of Ukrainian refugees in Ireland".  The purpose of the research is to gather relevant and comprehensive data about support worker’s perceptions of the integration experiences of Ukrainian refugees in Ireland. I will be conducting a focus group and individual interviews with 12 support workers in the field of refugee aid.  I am very excited to connect with other Laidlaw scholars regardless of how different our research projects may be. Hi! I'm Sophia, an aspiring scientist and philomath. I love learning about everything and anything and delight in spending time with people who are passionate about the things they love! I am really interested and curious about how we can use chemistry to improve processes and products to help society. For example, my research project is looking into the possibility of turning struvite, a mineral which is a by-product of waste-water treatment processes into slow-release nitrogen and phosphorous fertilisers, which would be a green source nitrogen and phosphorous fertilisers and help achieve goals of zero-waste.  If you are researching something similar or are interested in learning more about the project, please reach out! I’m Eliora Riebling, a sociologist. As a Laidlaw Scholar I research white supremacist trajectories, specifically I am looking to identify a combination of social factors that shape women’s mindsets and prompt them to join organized white supremacy. I hope to identify impetuses for women’s participation in this extremism. As a leadership project I intend to contribute to counter messaging and deradicalization programs. I hope to use my findings to inform which messages are useful to the initiatives that weaken white supremacist organizations by preventing and sinking their membership.
