L.i.A Impact Report and Reflective Essay Summer 2
A summary of the Leadership in Action experience I undertook this summer, and a reflection on my Laidlaw journey.
Summer 1 - Reflective Report
Reflecting on my experience, both academic and personal, of researching Dublin’s Hirschfeld Centre through the Daniel Wood Photographic Collection, thinking about ‘queer space’ and its historic importance in the growth, visibility and consolidation of community for LGBTQ+ peoples.
Research Proposal: Queer space, visibility, and the built environment: a study of the Hirschfeld centre and the gay scene in 1980s Dublin.
My research centres around a previously unpublished set of photographs, The Don Wood Photographic Collection 1980-83, through which I aim to explore the interrelation of concepts of Queer space, visibility, and the built enviornment in the early years of the Hirschfeld Centre in 1980s Dublin.
