I am an alumni of the University of York where I received a BA (Hons) degree in English Literature and Linguistics. I was the Arts and Humanities Subject Lead on the Laidlaw Scholar's Network and the 2020-22 Arts and Humanities Undergraduate rep at the University of York.  After graduating from York I went to the University of Oxford to read for an MPhil in Linguistics, Philology, and Phonetics. After 2 years of study at Oxford I work full time in a school and also work on the HEnabled podcast, which aims to showcase the experiences of people with disabilities and long-term health conditions within the British Higher Education system. Hi! My name is Bronwyn, I use she/her pronouns, and I am a senior at Tufts University majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies. Through the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies at Tufts, I have created my own major, uniquely combining Education, Civic Studies, and Sociology; I am also studying Religion as a minor concentration. At Tufts, I am also involved with the Tisch College for Civic Life as a Tisch Scholar, and have worked with a variety of community-based nonprofits in the greater Boston area for the past three years. At Tufts, I also work as a Spanish tutor and teach a weekly kickboxing class. Overall, I am very passionate about issues of education, specifically literacy, accessibility, sustainability, and holistic equity. I am honored to be a Laidlaw Scholar and feel very grateful for the opportunity to pursue such meaningful work!

I was a member of the Tufts undergraduate research and leadership program in the cohort of 2021-2023. I studied biochemistry and worked in the Kumar lab, investigating novel antibiotics for Tuberculosis.  After graduation, I came to the National Institutes of Health as a postbaccalaureate fellow, where I studied cell biology in the Lyme disease pathogen Borrelia burgdorferi. Currently, I am a PhD student at Harvard Medical School, in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences program, within the Graduate Program in Bacteriology. I am interested in molecular microbiology and bacterial pathogenesis, and I aim to pursue a career in academia after my graduate studies.

Hello! I am a third year student studying chemistry at the University of York.  For my research project, I'm interested in ring expansion cascade reactions and how we can effectively synthesise their starting materials.  I'm looking forward to becoming an effective leader who can make a positive impact in whatever industry I end up in, and inspire more women to pursue careers in STEM subjects.   I also love yoga, reading and art history.

I am Laidlaw scholar and undergraduate student at the University of Leeds studying towards a LLB. My research aims to greater understand the public's perceptions towards rehabilitation and reintegration of terrorists into society through literature reviews and studying data from public surveys. The wider implications of this research will hopefully mean that public policy is influenced in ways to be more receptive to the public's needs and that society will become more educated in this area.  Outside of my studies I really enjoy reading, travelling, cooking, listening to music and spending quality time with my friends and family.

My Laidlaw research project is about bringing a system that could help minimize the number of high-school and primary students who bring cell phones to school since it's one of the major sources of distraction. I did my Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University Africa, majoring in Cybersecurity and Data Science.

I was a History undergraduate at Durham University, where I was part of the 2021-22 Laidlaw Scholars cohort (2020-23). Afterwards, I studied MSt in Global and Imperial University at Oxford University (2023-24) with a specialisation in postcolonial Anglophone African history and English-speaking Caribbean under the British empire. Now, I'm currently working in digital marketing. For my research, I investigated the use of the Crusades within far-right organisations and what it reveals about the readings of crusade history. Dawn Geronimo Terkla

As Associate Provost of Tufts University, Dr. Dawn Geronimo Terkla oversees the Offices of Institutional Research & Evaluation (OIR&E); The Center for Enhancement of Learning & Teaching (CELT), and the Tufts Laidlaw Scholars Program: serves on the USAID funded EPT2 One Health Workforce Project; provides guidance across the university on issues relating to institutional research, outcomes assessment, and evaluation; provides critical management information to senior administrators; and serves on university-wide committees (Academic Council, Administrative Council, Social Science IRB, Tufts IT Steering Committee, Information Stewardship Sub-committee, Student Information Steering Committee, as well as, co-chairing the University-Wide Committee on Teaching and Faculty Development. Dr. Terkla is the University Accreditation Liaison Officer to the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). In addition, she participates in school-level accreditations, providing support as needed. She has held leadership positions in several organizations serving as President of both the North East Association for Institutional Research and the Association for Institutional Research, as well as the Chair of the US Department of Educational National Postsecondary Executive Committee (NPEC) Council on Postsecondary Education Statistics. In addition, she has served on the Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium Board of Directors, the UCLA/ACE Cooperative Institutional Research Program Advisory Committee, National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities Commission on Policy Analysis and the National Student Clearinghouse Advisory Committee. Dr. Terkla earned a doctorate in higher education research from Harvard University, a Masters of Public Policy from the University of California Berkeley, and a bachelors degree from Ohio Wesleyan University where she majored in politics and government. In addition, she was awarded a management certificate from the Management Institute for Women in Higher Education.
