About Dominika Durovcikova

I am a Master of Physics student at Oxford specializing in theoretical quantum physics and laser physics. Over the course of last 4 years, I have enjoyed exploring different research frontiers ranging from quantum algorithms, gravitational wave detection to biomedical imaging. In my free time, I also like to use machine learning techniques for astrophysical research. Outside of physics, I devote a large portion of my time to leading an organization called Unimak, where, together with over 60 Slovak and Czech university students, we are spreading awareness about the possibilities of studying at world-class universities for high-school students from these two countries. This year, I have also co-founded a global mentoring program for female undergraduates called Encouraging Women Across All Borders (EWAAB), which aims to build confidence of young women by nurturing their leadership and communication skills while connecting them to a global network of inspirational women. We have successfully launched this program at 8 universities ranging from Canada to Australia in the inaugural year, and are planning on expanding in future years. On another note, I love playing the ukulele and am always open to book recommendations!
