My research question is: When judged in reference to international legal standards, has the Republic of Sudan’s legal system responded effectively to the sexual violence war crimes that were allegedly committed during the conflict in Darfur?
This is my first year of being a Laidlaw Scholar and my supervisor is Dr Matthew Nicholson.
Interested in cognitive psychology, particularly sensory perception and how we interact with designs and user interfaces. I am also strongly interested in behavioural science on a larger scale, including how our interactions with technology and others can affect our health and wellbeing.
Interested in the interplay between History and Politics and the damaging effect History can have when abused in our political climate.
I'm a third year undergraduate student studying international relations and human geography. My Laidlaw research concerns the ways development agendas from international organisations such as the UN as well as national governments conceptualise the role of young people in the city. Specifically, I explore the ways young people are perceived as economic assets to urban development agendas which can depoliticise their position in the community.
Hi, I'm a Durham University undergraduate studying Economics and Politics. My Laidlaw Scholarship independent research project focuses on 'Youth Employment Experiences in the Informal-Formal Nexus of the Indian Labour Market’ and explores the employment aspirations of India’s youth in an economic environment that is characterised by increasing job precariousness.
I am a published author, and my recently-released book ‘Why People Give’ (Sage Publications), which discusses the motivations that drive philanthropy. I am also a NextGen leader at the Aspen Institute and discuss how the potential of artificial intelligence can be realised in an ethical manner with other thinkers.
Currently spending my days reading, sketching and watching a lot of Netflix in between planning my next projects!
Hello! I've been part of the Laidlaw Foundation for over 4 years, working on strengthening our global community and broadening our initiatives aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty, reducing inequality, and cultivating a new generation of leaders.
I'm currently completing a Masters in Anthropology & Professional Practice at UCL, delving into my passion for using ethnographic methods and design to effect systemic change, particularly in the education sector. My journey in design has been diverse, beginning with graphic design, transitioning into UX/UI and service design, and now evolving into systemic design and innovation.
Originally from Kazakhstan 🇰🇿, I pursued my undergraduate degree in Human Sciences at UCL. I'm an amateur naturalist, avid swimmer, and an obsessive podcast listener. Let's connect and chat—drop me a line and find me on LinkedIn! 💬👀
I believe in ground-breaking research, innovation and teaching. I am passionate about learning difficult concepts and breaking them down to their core; simplifying them and being able to convey their essence to anyone willing to listen.
As an undergraduate chemistry student, researcher on synthesis of Blatter Radicals and volunteer tutor, this is exactly what I am doing. And I love it.
There’s always more to research and learn in chemistry and I am always up for the challenge.
My hobbies and interests range form hiking, running and swimming, to art and reading.
