Kamala Harris (1964-) is an American politician and lawyer who has served as the junior U.S. senator from California since 2017. She is the second African-American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate.
Last week, Kamala Harris made history by becoming the first Black female Vice Presidential nominee for a major party. She is also the first woman of Indian descent nominated for that position.
