Week three and four research update

In week three we opened the second core (core section 5) which sat directly on top of core section 4 which we cut open first. This core had no clear laminations unlike section 4 and appeared to be mostly clay with some silt. 

Upon looking through some samples from the bottom of core section 5 it was quickly apparent this core may have formed under more oxygenated conditions because of the more significant number of foram abundances, especially in comparison to core section 4. These forms were also slightly larger compared to the forums from section 4 which tried to survive in hypoxic conditions resulting in their small abundance and size. 

Weeks three and four were spent looking through samples, sieving and taking new samples from core section 5.
