As we are currently in our Leadership Development Stage of our LIA, we have had the amazing opporunity to engage in so many different cultrual activities! From going to a nearby farm to engage in food collection/understand regenerative and urban agriculture, to my personal favourite of cleaning the rivers of Xochimilco of microplastics! Luckily most of us didnt fall in, apart from a few who were startled by nearby farm dogs!! But it was amazing to see the tangible difference, of collecting 15 bags of rubbish in 2 hours, can do to a local ecosystem! More importantly it gave myself and the rest of the scholars the ability to connect to nature and the importance of doing work the community, even if we never return to Xochimilco. I know that I have improved an ecosystem for the betterment of others. It ultimately illustrates the importance of collective action! And now I want to organise a litter picks in Leeds!
