One thing you've learned
- One thing I have learned is how to plan my days efficiently. Between all the experiments and the computational work, there is a lot of work to do and I am not always sure if I will be able to finish it. However, carefully planning out all the wait times and fitting mini-experiments into those periods helps the day run smoothly, and allows me to do everything I need to.

A challenge you've faced, and how you plan to overcome that challenge
- I am challenging myself to speed learn some analyses in R, which is difficult because the bioinformatician in my lab is new to the pipelines being used, so he is limited in the advice he can give. I am planning to reach out to some of the authors on the paper I am basing the code on to get a better understanding of all the parameters. I hope to get in contact with them early next week!

One goal you've set for yourself for the week
- Next week, my goal is to create a presentation with the preliminary results of my project to present at a lab meeting. This will allow me to get feedback not only from my mentor, but also from all other members of the lab, and see if they have any advice or suggestions that I might be able to incorporate into my project.
