I have really been trying to explore the many different parts of Bali outside of work. One thing that initially surprised me about Bali is how big it feels for being such a geographically small island. Part of this has to do with the immense diversity that exists between the different regions of Bali. I have mostly explored with one of my co-workers, Celine, who is close in age to me and isn't from Bali originally but another Indonesian island called Sumatra. The first weekend she showed me around Canggu and Seminyak which are the more touristy parts of the island and are extremely crowded. The sunset from the beach was incredible! 

I also went to Uluwatu which is another part of Bali which has become quite crowded because it is known for its great beaches and surfing. While there, I spent a lot of time reading on the beach but I also saw this traditional Balinese show called a Kecak Dance which is a reenactment of a scene from the Ramayana, one of the major Hindu epics! Speaking of epics, I also went to one of Bali's biggest malls this past weekend to watch The Odyssey in IMAX for about three US dollars!

I have developed a routine near my villa in Ubud which consists of going to the gym and also swimming at my gym's pool. Ubud is known for it's nature so I have explored some of the beautiful waterfalls that they have here as well as many cultural sites such as Hindu temples in Ubud.
