LiA Week 2 Log - CDMX - Developing & Exploring
On the second week, I am getting used to the climate and environment. I also gained a better understanding on organisation we are working with (Rennueva). We then started formulating a concrete plan and workflow for our reaction for impact project. While there has been some uncertainty on our work, after some discussions and meetings with Rennueva, we have formed clear goals and plans for the upcoming weeks. We would help improve the user experience in the recycling website. We have also met virtually with volunteers who will be working with us. They shared their skills and interests, which allowed us to assign tasks that we can work together.
This week, I also visited Torre Latinoamericana, one of the highest tower in Latin America. The top floors of the tower can have an overhead view of the city. Arriving at the top of the tower, we can see the cityscape sprawling to the horizon, with a few hills and mountains protruding from the flat basin. I can also see planes liftoff and landing in the distant airport. As nightfall comes, the lights from the streets turn on, highlighting the gridlines and structure of the city.
On Saturday, we visited Las Sabinas. We were introduced the mission of Las Sabinas and the issue of Sexual violence in Mexico City. As a guy from Hong Kong, it is less common for me to know about such issues and its severity in other places of the world. Afterwards, we created a collage from magazines. It is quite good to see how other scholars depict sexual violence, inequality through images and graphics, with inspiration from magazines.
