This summer, I will be working in Santa Barbara, where the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation’s headquarters are located. During this time, our team will engage with the local community to help organize Sadako Peace Day — an event honoring the victims of the 1945 atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In addition to community outreach, we plan to participate in Santa Barbara City Council meetings to support discussions around establishing a nuclear weapon-free zone in the city.
This work builds on the research I conducted last summer, when I focused on the consequences of nuclear weapons testing. While that work centered on the scientific and historical impacts, this summer I am shifting to the public policy dimension—raising awareness and promoting laws that address the ongoing risks of nuclear weapons.
This is the NAPF house at Santa Barbara, where my team lives and works.
