This week was a lot of grind work - writing up the report and brief. 

I delivered my final presentation on my last day in an all staff meeting in front of 30 people. I think it is fair to say that it went well.

I made careful consideration to make the presentation as accessible and understandable as possible. I tried to make the slides engaging with quotes to lead a narrative, and with as minimal text as possible. The workshop I did on public speaking with Laidlaw in first year came in clutch here.

The scariest thing was not knowing how it would be received. Luckily, I think it went well!

Something that surprised me was that people came up to me afterwards, they would praise my presentational style more so than the content. I had heard people say before that non-verbal gestures is what communicates a message across, but it was interesting to see it in action.

Throughout the six weeks in Toronto, I had also regretted not speaking to more people in the organisation. I guess I found the idea of 'networking' awkward and cringy. But, after the presentation, I took the opportunity to introduce myself to people who I had never spoken before. It was a great experience and also interesting to hear about people's lives, and the (messy) paths they took to get where they are today. It was especially reassuring as I go through my own crisis of what to do next after uni.

I think the lessons learnt here are to not be afraid of reaching out to people – everyone is usually willing to help in some way.
