This week I made real progress on my EPQ/A-level work and officially started developing the first two tabs of my database. After all the re-planning of Week 3, it was satisfying to finally see the structure start to take shape on the page instead of just in my notes.

London also decided to officially enter a heatwave this week, which meant most of the team ended up working from home. My accommodation, like seemingly half of Europe, doesn't have AC, so rather than melt in my room I took my laptop and set up camp in cafés around the city instead. It turned out to be a nice change of scenery and pace, new soundtrack of espresso machines and conversation instead of silence, and I found I actually got a lot done fueled by iced coffee and the novelty of a new "office" every day.

This weekend, I took the train out to Warwick to visit another one of my high school best friends. She gave me the full tour of her university, showing me around the places that had shaped her last few years, and it meant a lot to get that uninterrupted time with her. She rarely gets the chance to come home these days, so being able to visit her instead, rather than waiting for our schedules to line up back home, felt like exactly the kind of thing this summer abroad was supposed to make possible.
