This week was particularly exciting because, while most of my work so far has focused on the behind-the-scenes logistical and planning aspects of the nonprofit, my supervisor and colleagues at AHLU invited me to observe and assist with the art history classes that sit at the heart of the charity's mission. These classes take place at AHLU's teaching facility at the Courtauld Gallery in Somerset House.

It was wonderful to meet and work with the students who attend AHLU's programmes and to see firsthand the passion and expertise of the teachers and teaching assistants. Watching them engage students with art history and critical thinking reminded me why this work is so important. Although it wasn't that long ago that I was in their position, it felt strangely bittersweet reflecting on my own school experience, especially while spending so much time reconnecting with my high school friends this summer.

Putting my staff discount to good use with a much-needed coffee!

This week also marked an exciting milestone in my project. I am nearly finished with my first database of HPQ resources and was asked to present it to the AHLU team. It was definitely nerve-racking, but also incredibly rewarding. The feedback I received was thoughtful and constructive, helping me identify ways to strengthen the database and contribute even more effectively to the charity's work.

Outside of my project, I've also enjoyed building relationships with my colleagues. My coworker Hafsa and I have started a tradition of visiting bakeries near the office (of which there are far too many for the good of our wallets) and treating ourselves to coffee and a sweet treat. This week, she introduced me to an Alphonso mango matcha latte, which was genuinely life-changing. I've also loved learning more about the people I work with and their lives beyond AHLU. Hafsa, for example, is an artist who recently held her first exhibition after graduating from Oxford with a Fine Arts degree (check her out on ig @hafsasiddiquistudio).

Beyond the office, I continued exploring London and its surrounding areas. This week, I visited Richmond! Ted Lasso is one of my favorite shows, so getting to walk through locations featured in the series and see parts of Richmond come to life was incredibly fun. All in all, this was a fantastic week :)
