I’m applying for the Leadership in Action (LiA) project in Sydney, Australia, to volunteer with SAFE Rehoming, a small local charity dedicated to rescuing and rehoming stray cats. The shelter currently houses over 100 cats and is run by a small team with no government funding — relying entirely on donations from individuals and banks.

To me, leadership is about responsibility. The LiA project offers a valuable opportunity to explore a cause I care deeply about while building a sense of responsibility in a real-world context. By working with SAFE Rehoming, I hope to gain insight into how a grassroots charity operates, how to care for a large number of animals, and how adoption processes are managed.

I’m planning to do the project from 25th August to early October, and I’d love for others who share a passion for animals to join me!
