The lessons I’ve learned from these past six weeks of the Laidlaw program have been invaluable not only to my personal abilities in research, but also my capacity to question everything around me and provoke deeper thought about my personal values and framework for viewing the world. While the official period of research is coming to an end, I anticipate the rest of summer to bring me much farther into my investigation on access to primary care for older Chinatown residents.

Ultimately, I’m finding most meaning in the fact that there is very little research into this area. This only heightens the importance of my research because not only will it be contributing to a field that isn’t well explored, but it also increases the potential for the findings of this research to be impactful for members of the Chinatown communities. This means that after the study is completed, I will have to be intentional about how the results are distributed and made accessible to those who it may benefit the most. As the summer progresses, I am most looking forward to reflecting on all that I have learned and planning for future investigation!
