Introduction Post
This summer, I’ll be working on a research project exploring delays in hospital presentation for COPD exacerbations across healthcare settings in India and the UK. The project aims to understand how patient- and system-level factors influence delayed care-seeking, severity at admission, and healthcare outcomes. I’ll be collaborating with clinicians in both countries and observing respiratory care in clinical settings in India as part of the project.
I’m especially interested in how differences in healthcare infrastructure, accessibility, patient perception, and socioeconomic factors shape respiratory outcomes globally.
Really excited to learn from all of you and hear about the incredible work everyone is doing across different disciplines and countries!

This sounds like such an interesting and important project! As an SLT student, I’ve had placement experience in acute hospitals in Dublin and have seen firsthand how delays in care for patients with swallowing difficulties from COPD can impact PO intake, swallow safety, and overall outcomes. It’s really interesting to see research exploring how healthcare systems, accessibility, and socioeconomic factors influence these experiences across different countries. Really excited to follow your research and see what insights come from it!
