"The only way we really create change is to enter any situation with the humility to listen and to recognize the world as it is, and then the audacity to dream what it could be, to have the patience to start and let the work teach you, to be willing to lead when you need to lead, and to listen."

Jacqueline Novogratz (1968-) is the Founder and CEO of Acumen, a nonprofit global venture fund that invests philanthropic capital in sustainable businesses tackling the problems of poverty. Under her leadership, Acumen has invested $110 million in 102 companies providing critical goods and services to the poor across Africa, Latin America, South Asia and the United States.

Jacqueline has been named one of the Top 100 Global Thinkers by Foreign Policy, one of the 25 Smartest People of the Decade by the Daily Beast, and one of the world’s 100 Greatest Living Business Minds by Forbes, which also honored her with the Forbes 400 Lifetime Achievement Award for Social Entrepreneurship. In addition to her work with Acumen, she is a sought-after speaker and sits on a number of philanthropic boards.
