Final Reflections
Leadership means a lot of different things to me today and to be a successful leader you must have lots of different qualities, that you can continue to develop and learn from. Previously, I thought that Leadership was about confidence and knowledge, it meant being the most capable candidate and knowing this to effectively communicate with a team. Now, I think the most important part of being a leader is adaptability. A leader must have confidence, self-knowledge, critical thinking skills and resilience, but they must also have the capacity to create change and also promote change and adaptability. Leadership must be self-aware and strive for success with the collaboration of a good and hardworking team, whilst giving the credit to those when due.
My main areas of development as a leader, were through self-knowledge and creative thinking. It was important to know where your strengths and weaknesses were and how to use your good qualities to compensate or delegate for your weaker ones. I enjoyed being a part of a team and collaborating well, to create an interesting and successful project. My project management skills improved drastically, through time management, prioritising tasks and working independently, as well as communication skills.
This programme has provided me with valuable skills to become a successful leader, as well as the space to develop previous skills and qualities that I already had. Through this programme, I have gained work experience and how to be an active and valued member of a team, whilst using my skills to create and enhance important charity work. Additionally, the programme has provided interesting workshops to learn from important leaders that have used their skills to create success and change. Finally, I have learnt how to use critical and creative thinking, collaboration and self-awareness to be a good leader. I hope that I can use these skills for my future career prospects and for entrepreneurial work.
