This image is a still of the film Daughter of the Dragon (1932) that I am studying for my project. I have watched it multiple times to analyze the plot and characters, as well as the cinematography, set design, and score. Daughter of the Dragon is not only the central exhibit around which my research revolves, it is also representative of the research processes I have had to employ this summer. I learned how to read and watch things more closely, and how to determine relevant information for my project when there is so much interesting scholarship out there. I also really enjoyed getting to combine my personal interests of film and gender studies into a more academic project!

Hannah! Wow, I am so impressed by the way your research this summer has evolved and shifted to film analysis, especially concerning Chinese Americans (extremely connected to my own identity). I loved the way you were able to intersect your interests within film, history, and gender studies into this project. Great job and I cannot wait to see what you do in the future!
