Kamala Harris (1964-) is an American politician and attorney who is the vice president-elect of the United States. A member of the Democratic Party, she is set to assume office in January 2021, alongside President-elect Joe Biden, having defeated incumbent President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence in the 2020 presidential election.

In November 2020, Harris became the first Asian-American, the first African-American, and the first female vice president in U.S. history. She will be the highest-ranking female elected official in United States history.

Hello! My name is Nikol and I look after the Laidlaw Scholars Network.

I am originally from Kazakhstan and I studied Human Sciences at UCL. My final research explored the potential effects of design on patient wellbeing in hospitals, and I also took modules such as Ethnographic Documentary Filmmaking, Anthropology of the Built Environment, Art in the Public Sphere, and other less interesting-sounding things :)
