We have concluded week 2 of working here in Mexico City! We've made great progress so far this week as we have decided on the outline details of all our deliverables. I feel proud thus far about the creative contributions I have made, as I have had the chance to come up with some of our characters and game ideas, each of which will represent a different important theme to educate children e.g. health education, diversity and relationships, and social emotional education. After presenting to both the Las Sabinas leader, Pam, and Makesense leader Keni, we received incredibly positive feedback, outlining that we have gone above and beyond to make sure every detail of our deliverables are intentionally added and practical!

We also met with some of our volunteers, who we will be leading throughout the programme, to implement the traits we have been developing on the Oxford Character Project e.g. courage, integrity, and compassion. Next week we'll begin delegating tasks to the volunteers and the construction of our deliverables, which will continue to challenge and expand our organisational skills.

Outside of the office, I have continued to explore the fascinating culture of Mexico, visiting the Teotihuacán pyramids, the Basilica of Our Lady Guadalupe, and the Plaza of the Three Cultures. The story that most stood out to me on this tour was of the 1968 Tlatelolco massacre, a government attack on students peacefully protesting authoritarian rule and lavish spending on the Olympic Games. Hundreds were killed and the government attempted to cover the brutality up. Citizens and survivors still march yearly, refusing to let their voices be silenced and the victims' memories be lost. Our passionate guide Alex put it best: "If you are young and don't have revolution in your spirit, it's a contradiction". As the programme continues, I will keep this close to my heart and aim to make the most of my time here with youthful fervour!
