“Decide. Commit. Succeed.”
This has been a constant inspiration for me throughout my schooling, and now undergraduate, journey. I am always excited to take on new projects and participate in new experiences, but I ensure to put my best foot forward in each of these and truly commit to them. In my freshman year I committed to moving to New York to study at Barnard, writing for the Barnard Bulletin, rushing a business fraternity, assisting in economics research on campus, and now, working on my own research project through Laidlaw.
Thus, I am eager to commit to Laidlaw Scholars Leadership & Research Program as part of Barnard College’s 2026 cohort.
I will be conducting macroeconomic research on monetary policy and its effect on housing affordability in India and the United States through this program. I’m keen to work on this research under the guidance of Professor Martina Jasova, to try and understand whether slow monetary policy transmission has a negative impact on new housing loan borrowers. It’s an interesting question to ask and I look forward to spending the next 6 weeks trying to find an answer to it.
Apart from research, I’m excited to interact with Barnard’s and Columbia University’s Laidlaw cohorts to connect with students across disciplines and cultures. It’s a great opportunity to explore New York City in the summer and form new friendships. More than anything though, I’m enthusiastic about growing as a researcher, as a student, and as a person through this program.
