Hey Scholars! 👋
I wanted to share something truly inspiring from @Divya Chaurasia, a Laidlaw Scholar at London Business School, who recently opened up about her journey as a first-generation Indian student in Poets & Quants. 🎓🌍
In her article, “Breaking the Glass Ceiling: An Indian First-Generation Student’s Path to London Business School,” Divya reflects on the ups and downs of navigating such a prestigious academic environment. From feeling out of place to embracing the challenges of a demanding MBA program, her story resonates deeply with many of us who have faced similar obstacles.
Divya shares, “As a first-generation student, the road to London Business School was not an easy one. There were moments of doubt and fear, but also moments of immense growth and learning.” She goes on to highlight how pivotal the Laidlaw Scholarship was in helping her take that leap of faith, saying, “The scholarship gave me access to not just financial support, but an incredible network of peers and mentors who have helped me shape my career and leadership journey.”
What I found particularly inspiring was how she discusses the importance of resilience and community: “Being surrounded by like-minded individuals who are equally driven has pushed me to think bigger, to challenge myself, and to believe in my own potential.” This speaks to the core of what it means to be part of the Laidlaw network—we lift each other up, and together, we go further.
Having been a Women in Business Scholar at Oxford’s Saïd Business School, I connected deeply with her reflections on overcoming imposter syndrome and finding her place in the business world. It reminded me of my own journey and the invaluable role community has played in my development as a leader. 🚀
I encourage you to check out Divya’s full article. It’s not just a story of personal growth, but a testament to the impact we can all have on each other’s journeys. Let’s continue to support, celebrate, and inspire each other in the incredible work we’re doing! 🙌
