Programme Manager – Laidlaw Leadership and Research Programme, University of St Andrews

Alex is the Laidlaw Scholars Programme Manager and Leadership Developer at the University of St Andrews. He is responsible for the day to day running of the Scholarship as well as the development and delivery of its leadership component. Beyond Laidlaw, Alex is involved in several other leadership development programmes within the University for example, the Saints Leaders Programme aimed at developing sporting leaders. In addition, Alex guest lectures internationally on subjects of strategy and leadership. Prior to his full-time return to academia, Alex travelled extensively and lived, visited, and worked in several countries around the globe, giving him a unique opportunity to explore and experienced different cultures and working environments. This includes several management positions in the luxury hospitality industry, working for companies such as Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, the Rocco Forte Collection, and Silversea Cruises. Alex has also spent several years working in management research, much of which focused on leadership. Amongst others, Alex holds a leadership-focused MBA from the Open University, a Masters in Research in Management from the University of St Andrews, and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
