This is the report discusses the basic theory behind and the sources of uncertainty in Proton Beam Therapy (a form of cancer therapy) from a physics oriented view. It is a review of all the amazing work done in the past to understand and tackle these uncertainties.

The research essay focusses on CT number to Hounsfield Unit conversion as a source of uncertainty in proton beam therapy as well as a discussing the use of Analytical algorithms vs Monte Carlo algorithms to calculate the dose distribution. These uncertainties are essential to study due to their vital role in enhancing performance of the treatment and reducing side effects.
