Reflection Blog 2

Year 1 Week 3 reflection

This week our research started to take more shape, with our understanding of the literature solidifying the realities of securing interviews becoming clearer. This has settled me into a more comfortable routine leading to less stress and confusion.

Group work has presented its own challenges specifically the interdisciplinary nature of the members means that we have differing conceptualisations of concepts and how to approach abstract concepts. I approach them from a somewhat analytical or mathematical angle whereas others have more scientific or psychological approach. This is both a challenge and the key strength of group to be lauded providing ripe opportunity to break out of the frameworks imposed by our previous subject-specific worldviews.

Otherwise I think my expectations of what may be accomplished and what we are aiming for are now aligned which has reduced the sense of alienation from the project. As a result I am now enjoying my summer more and taking a sufficient amount of time to do leisure activities.

I also have had time to consider the unfortunately large gap between the literature we read (and the ideas I have in light of it) and the realities of the situation when in conversation with teachers or simply reflecting on the intricacies of the real world.  Hopefully the synthesis of these two strands becomes somewhat possible in the coming weeks.
