Final week!
Please see my reflection below:
1) What went well? In our final week, my team and I's only goal was to clean, clean, and clean some more. I can happily report that we accomplished this goal rather effectively, and I believe our PRIDE event has now officially concluded.
2) What could have been done differently? Because the majority of our final tasks were rather simple, I admittedly do not have much to reflect upon in this section. I would say this: Always purchase your "thank you" cards in advance. I had an amazing time with Youth Work Ireland, and I made sure to give each of my team members a note of my appreciation.
3) What did I learn about myself when working with others? I again learned a rather simple, yet important lesson: Every individual has different levels of physical comfort and exertion. When completing labor-intensive tasks, such as cleaning, I recognize the importance of consistent self and team check-ins. On these finals days, there was no need to push past the point of fatigue, and our team took the actions necessary to ensure every single team member felt cared for. This is sustainable action at work!
4) What did I learn about leadership? Even in the quiet moments following a major event, a leader maintains and operates within their previously developed frameworks and foundations. A leader can and should continue similar patterns of delegation, communication, and community development. I am grateful for all of the wonderful wisdom my supervisor has directly or indirectly taught me.
5) What do I want to develop or focus on next? As a closing note, I once again reiterate my sincere joy that I found in this project. My next priority is to rest! I have a good portion of time to celebrate this accomplishment.
