On Saturday the 24th of October, our University of Leeds Laidlaw community had the exciting opportunity to attend Diva Opera's performance of Rossini's La Cenerentola; an Italian opera retelling of Cinderella.
The evening was another great opportunity for all of our three cohorts to come together and enjoy the unique chance to watch an opera here on campus at Leeds. For most of us, it was our first time watching an opera, and we were all taken aback by the talent of each Diva Opera performer. It was such a privilege to share this culturally enriching experience with the rest of our Laidlaw cohort and was a reminder of the incredible and diverse opportunities we receive as Laidlaw scholars. As a student of Italian, this was a particularly special evening for me, and I really valued the opportunity to be immersed in the language and experience such an esteemed aspect of Italian culture here at Leeds.
Thank you so much to Diva Opera and the Laidlaw Opera Trust for this exciting evening of opera; it was a truly inspiring performance and an amazing opportunity to accessibly engage with opera.
