Shirin Ebadi (1947-) is an Iranian lawyer, political activist, and Iran's first female judge.
In 2003, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts to promote democracy and human rights, especially those of women and children in Iran, becoming the first Muslim woman and the first Iranian to receive the award.
