Hi everyone!

Our e-learning summer camp is expanding and I would like to introduce our brilliant, passionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated Mentor Doria. Over the next few weeks, she will be teaching our pupils science and her first lesson is all about the wonderful world of tropical rainforests and their biological diversity. Stay tuned and do not forget to subscribe today to receive a notice in your inbox every time we post a new video!

As you know, with this summer camp we are aiming to provide pupils with free access to a large variety of different activities and subjects. There will be plenty of lessons, activities, and extra practice. We will be teaching foreign languages and cultures, space and planets, living beings and non-living beings, the human body, the arctic, deserts, rainforests, Harry Potter and much more! Another brilliant mentor is working from Hong Kong to bring lessons about Chinese culture and myths, and we cannot wait to see her first lesson plan! Others would like to teach music, food science and nutrition, and storytelling. And hopefully, this list will get bigger over the following days.

The summer camp will be run until the 5th of September 2020, and we are looking for volunteers. You can join the mission by volunteering just a few hours per week to help us create our funny video intros and outros with PowerPoint, to help the project connect with new schools and programmes and broaden our reach, to curate content on our LinkedIn page, or to create lessons for a subject of your choice.

Learn with Us Summer Camp 2020 is a special place to learn. It is designed to bring fun, inspirational and interesting educational activities to disadvantaged pupils’ homes, and your contribution would be invaluable. If you would like to get involved, if the idea of joining us and helping us to deliver a meaningful impact on the ground feels exciting, if you have any questions, or if you just want to chat about it, please drop me a line at giammarco.di-gregorio@durham.ac.uk

I will speak to you all very soon!

Take care and stay safe,

Mentor G

This is fantastic - congratulations Giammarco, welcome Doria. I am so impressed with your passion, creativity and high impact. I hope many others will join you - such a great initiative. You must be really proud of yourselves. I couldn't be more thrilled that you are forging such an amazing link between two Laidlaw Foundation programmes. Thank you!

I couldn’t be more honoured.

Thank you so much for your kind words and empathetic encouragement Susanna.

This means a lot to me.

I need to thank the members of the staff from the two Laidlaw Foundation programmes that have been helping me so extensively during the last few weeks. I want to thank them for their priceless support and guidance, the endless conversations and teaching. Thank you!
