Studies Theoretical Physics at the University of Leeds, currently on a year in industry at Raspberry Pi as part of the Hardware Engineering team. During my research period, I worked with academics within my department to investigate "Belonging and Engagement in a Successful Transition to University", with a particular focus on how students with less typical entry routes to higher education experience belonging.
I'm always intruiged by different ways to apply the physics and mathematics from my course, with a particular interest in quantum physics, fluid dynamics and computational physics.
In my free time I enjoy playing tennis, tinkering with technology, and flying light aircraft.
Hi! My name is Meegan and I am in my industrial placement year working as an Air Quality Research Assistant for the NHS, and I am on the Sustainability and Environmental Management degree programme at the University of Leeds.
I am also the UK Chapter President for the Laidlaw Foundation, and I am looking forward to working with the other Chapter Presidents to organise and host social and career-related events throughout the year!
I love the outdoors to go for a hike and wild camp whenever I get the chance. I love promoting sustainability, and I volunteer at the local charity Development Education Centre in Leeds to help local schools engage with the Sustainable Development Goals and environmental/human rights issues in their curriculum.
I am an Undergraduate Paediatric Nursing student at the University of Leeds and a Psychology with Criminology graduate. My Laidlaw research project will look at the MIMOS study (the effectiveness of Sexual Assault Referral Centres with regard to Mental Health and Substance Use: A National Mixed Method Study). My research aims to evaluate how the team undertaking the study have successfully implemented the values of the Survivors Voice "Charter for Engaging Survivors in Research".
I am a first year scholar and undergraduate student at the University of Leeds studying towards a BA in Politics and Sociology. My research aims to draw on the experiences of UoL students with a focal point on widening participation students in order to gain a deeper understanding of what inclusive learning spaces are and how they can be achieved. Outside of my research I really enjoy reading, cooking and baking, listening to music and spending time with my friends and family.
I'm a chemist at the University of St Andrews, but in my time here I've dabbled in several different subject areas: Spanish, Italian, Maths and Computer Science as well as Chemistry. Although these seem quite different fields, they share a commonality, in that there is some formal grammar underpinning each of them. If you understand the rules, you can manipulate these tools to accomplish a certain goal - be that synthesising a particular molecule or having a conversation. I'm a keen linguist, having spent time teaching English in one of the top private schools in Spain, and regularly attend evening Italian classes. I enjoy most areas of Chemistry, particularly organic mechanism and fluorescence - hence the focus of my project. I'm always looking for new opportunties inside or outside the lab, and would like to explore the field of patent law as I think it fuses my interests quite nicely. It'd be great to meet any like minded people, so feel free to send me a message!
