Up next on 16 June 2020: Developing Leadership in Action in Developing Countries - the BYLC story, with Ejaj Ahmad

Started almost 4 years ago

Dear Laidlaw Scholars and fellow Scholarship supporters,

The University of St Andrews is next in line to bring you an event for our Summer Leadership Speakers series and we are delighted to welcome Ejaj Ahmad, the Founder and President of the Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC). Next week, on Tuesday, 16 June 2020 at 4 pm (BST) Ejaj will talk about Developing Leadership in Action in Developing Countries, and the story of the BYLC. Ejaj will also be thinking a bit more about the future of leadership education, and of course, there will also be some time for questions and discussion at the end - something I am very much looking forward to if the two previous events are anything to go by.

Please sign up for the event by Monday 15 June via the following link: https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYvcuqsqT0uHdPuRX8laoU__u7VoNpGsVuF

Background:
In only 10 years the Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC) grew from being a social enterprise, $10K living room project, to one of the most trusted and sought after leadership development platforms in Bangladesh with 80+ full-time staff and a $2M+ yearly operating budget. Driving this project, with his passion for teaching, entrepreneurship, and public service is its founder Ejaj Ahmad. A graduate of the University of St Andrews and Harvard University, Ejaj continues to drive BYLC forward and along the way has received countless honours and awards for his entrepreneurship, leadership development, and contribution to society. He has also become a sought after public speaker so we are very fortunate that Ejaj has agreed to take some time out from his busy schedule to share his story with our Laidlaw Scholars.

About BYLC: disrupting the higher education landscape in Bangladesh BYLC provides world-class leadership training through physical and blended courses, tackling youth unemployment by influencing government policies, connecting youths to jobs through physical and online networks, and instilling in them values of public service and community engagement. Furthermore, BYLC is creating the next generation of high impact entrepreneurs through incubation and investment support.

I look forward to seeing you next week!
