Audre Lorde (1934-1992) was an American poet, essayist, and civil rights activist. A self-described “black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet,” she dedicated her life to leading a fight against the injustices of racism, classism, sexism & homophobia by leveraging the powers of education and creative expression to raise the voices of the underprivileged and the underrepresented.
