Betty White (1922-2021) was an American actress known for her groundbreaking work in television over seven decades.

She began her career in radio, the transitioned into hosting gameshows and appeared in numerous sitcoms, notably, Life with Elizabeth, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Golden Girls, and Hot in Cleveland. She was among the first women to hold creative agency both on- and off-camera and to produce a sitcom. The Betty White Show was the first American network variety show to feature an African-American performer as a regular cast member, and she advocated for animal rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and HIV/AIDS awareness.

She has received numerous accolades, including eight Emmy Awards, three American Comedy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Grammy Award, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and induction into the Television Hall of Fame. She passed away on the last day of 2021, 17 days before her 100th birthday.
